As social distancing and shelter-in-place guidelines are relaxed, YVC is taking appropriate action to keep participants, staff, and community partners safe. The following precautions are being implemented for your safety and for ours. YVC cannot mitigate 100% of the risk of participation, but we remain committed to responsible preventative action and requiring compliance with all designated precautions. YVC will host projects both virtually and in-person. In-person projects will be outdoors or in spaces where social distancing and safety practices can be reasonably followed. YVC programs are:
Providing engaging virtual service projects in a safe, online platform.
Scheduling only those projects that ensure CDC guidelines can be followed reasonably, including:
Maintaining a 6-foot distance between themselves, youth participants, and other people on site during projects.
Implementing frequent hand-washing and sanitizing of surfaces.
Limiting or prohibiting shared equipment and supplies.
Limiting project participation to 8 youth or fewer.
Communicating clearly with agency partners to understand and comply with their established safety precautions.
Equipping program directors with a personal protective mask, as well as disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer for participants.
Planning projects that limit or eliminate shared supplies and personal contact.
Recommending and, in some cases, requiring youth participants wear masks. Each project will indicate if masks are required. Homemade masks are accepted and encouraged to keep N95 masks available for frontline workers. Check out this tutorial from a YVC youth volunteer to make your own. YVC will comply with all local ordinances regarding mitigation, including mask requirements. Please check your city government or public health departments for full details.
YVC asks our participants to:
Stay home if they or a family member is feeling ill or has potentially been exposed to the virus.
Wear a personal protective mask when required and if possible, at all times.
Registration fees for any project cancelled by YVC are eligible for a refund. If this occurs, you will be contacted directly. If youth cannot attend a YVC project and a parent/guardian provides a 2-week notice, a refund will be provided.
